Umbee with problems

Almost 3 weeks ago I picked up a 5" umbee from the LFS. About a week ago I noticed one of the gills had a slight bulge like which made me think that it was possibly beginning stage if gill curl. I found this weird because I never noticed it before and I'm always looking at the fish. Today after I got home I noticed what looks to be HITH and not just beginning stage. I am completely dumbfounded because my test kit while old it is still reading 10ppm.

My filters are clean (all 3 done this month) I did a 50% WC 2 days ago and I gravel vac'd. Any idea on whats happening and what I can do to help my fish?
 
I don't own a camera at he moment. The best I can do is get a friend to come over and do it but that might take a couple days.
 
If all goes as planned I'll have a friend over tomorrow, all he has is a smart phone camera but hopefully it's better than nothing. A little bit ago I took a water sample to my LFS and they confirmed that my water parameters are fine.

My test kit is API liquid while theirs is a strip test.

Mine showed 10ppm and theirs read under 20ppm. Theirs also tested nitrite, ammonia, etc.
