Umbees for sale

Doing water changes
Ive been looking for a place to buy umbees on the internet but i cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know where i can purchase them? I know i can contact Rapps to see if he has them but i just wanna find a site that has them so i can get a ballpark figure as to what they will cost me. im not going to purchase this month but most likely 3-4 months down the road after i got the tank for him since i dont wanna switch him around i want him in his home from the begining. Since the size ill buy them at im sure they wont be able to be sexed and i want a male ,so ill probably buy 5 or so then seperate them and picked the nicest one then sell the rest off. Also ive read about a blue strain and a green strain of umbee does anyone have some info on these and which is available in the hobby? Also ive been using the scientific name Caquetaia Umbriferus is this correct or am i mixing up names?
 
The "green umbie" is an unidentified sp. found in Panama. You'll not find this fish readily available, though I did see a group of larger fish for sale recently on AquaBid.

Check out www.aquamojo.com, Mo has several of the green umbie, and photos aplenty.

Hopefully you are getting a tank in the 300 gallon range, as that's what's needed for a male. They are very active swimmers.

thanks ill check it out i totally forgot about that website. the tank is in the works thats why im not purchasing the fish for a couple of months. ive done the upgrade as they grow and prefer not to go thru that again lol
 
Greens are sometimes-not often available from rapps, blue's before a couple months ago used to be steadily available as fry from him. Now it seems he never has them in. WW as much as I dislike that site has a couple people breeding the blues with good male/female ratios coming out.

You'd have plenty of time to upgrade for one if you were to start in a smaller tank and then move it to a larger one.

Thanks for the info on the greens and blues. Im still gonna get a tank the fish is good for life in since upgrading tanks will give me more tanks then id want and all my other tanks already have plans except my 40 which is a hosp[ital tank.
 
HEY I HAVE 8 BLUE UMBEE'S I BOUGHT FROM RIVERDALE PETS BACK IN MAY THEY WERE ALL THE SAME SIZE ABOUT 2", AND NOW 1 IS ABOUT 5" AN 2 ARE ABOUT 4" AN THE OTHERS ARE ABOUT 3.5", AND I WATCH THEM EVERY DAY TO DETERMINE WITCH IS MALE AN WITCH IS FEMALE AN I'AM CONVINCE MY 5" AN TWO 4" ARE MALE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST AGRESSIVE AN HAVE THE MOST COLOR BUT AS I WATCH THEM TODAY I MITE THINK I GOT ALL MALE'S BUT ANY WAY ONCE I GET ME A GOOD PAIR OUT OF THEM I WELL BE SELLING THE REST IN 3 TO 4 MONTHS SO KEEP IN TOUCH.
 
rapps does get the panama green umbee's in once in awhile, i had bought his 9" female a few months back.
