So I went on a mini vacation and came home to a surprise! (Camera sucks..sorry) I don't know when the eggs were laid but this is day 2 of me being home and seeing them. I was gone for 6 days. All eggs appear to be brown in color. If one is discolored (white), the female promptly removes it. What should I expect next? TIA

Hopefully they will hatch and she will hide the wrigglers, after 4 or 5 days they should become free swimming. I recommend HBH Baby Food or Hikaris First Bites as their first food, than NLS Grow when they get a little bigger. The first few days they will feed on parents slime coat. Good Luck, Who Dat!

Thanks for the info! When they do become free swimmers, what do you suggest I put on the intake of my HOB filter? WHO DAT!

I usually take foam blocks and cut them in the middle and slide them over the intake. I rinse them at water changes and use ankle socks over the tube when I do water changes. Your going to have to monitor your pair, some are great w/ fry and you can raise them up w/ parents, but some males will eat fry and pick on female to try and induce another spawn.

Update

The fry are now free swimmers and grazing in the gravel. They seem to be good parents at this time.
