are umbis aggressive?

how agressive would they be compared to a butti or a dovii? because i plan on putting them together in a tank

As far as I know, Umbee's are among the most aggressive of cichlids. By that I mean tankmates are almost out of the question. I don't think an Umbee would work with a Dovii or Butti. Aggression would become out of hand. Not to mention all these fish get extremely large.

when there young u can keep 2 females together
but yeah they do get very large

have owned 1. it was the only fish to hold its own with my dovii pair. wonderful fish. but better be willing to either loose fish or get a huge tank, they are mean and ver qwick growers

absolutely the only fish that can stand up to the dovii. I have a mated pair of dovii that spit out fry about every 2 months, and the Umbie was the only fish in my tank that could get anywhere close to eating the fry. It was pretty cool to see the Dovii have to double team the Umbie. Alas, I sold the Umbie and kept the Dovii pair.
