Somewhere in the known universe
Wow, never thought I'd be posting in this section, much less it being my first post. I've always thought aros where really cool, and are definatly something I've wanted to own when more space is avalible.

Anyway, heres my situation. A friend of mine has a large tank of (6)silver aros. He's never been to exact on dimensions but I guess its pretty big, although I doubt it's suitable for that many fish. The other day he started telling me about how he has way to may babies(2") to take care of, cause they had happend to breed. He also mentiond selling them for $10-$20. Now, all of the sudden I have an opritunity to own an aro, yet there is no way I could possibly keep it once it's measured in feet, and not inches, I just don't have the room. What I would have to do is give it away as it grew larger. There is a number of specialty aquatics stores in my area, and I'd bet one would take him. I don't want to sound like I mistreat my animals, or that I give them away when they grow to be too big and hard to take care of. Its just that this seams like an unbeliveable oppritunity for me to own an aro, atleast for a little while. Thanks ~ Rex

If you can manage to get at least a 100 gallon tank then you can certianly keep a baby silver in it for several years. In that time your situation may well change and you might have the reasources to keep it for life. Just get one of them by the way...They make better pets as singles and learn to respond to you more quickly.

For now you may not be able to house a big aro but doesn't mean you won't have a chance to own a bigger tank.:)

Keep the small fella now and work on getting a suitable tank for him over the period. I'm sure if you love it that much, something can be worked out.

Good luck.:)

I wish it were that simple. You see, just about every square inch of space in my pet room is eithor already filled, or reserved for something else. Theres a list of animals that I want to add to my collection, and an aro isn't one of them. I never thought I'd own one cause I don't have the room, and it would be pointless to buy a 6" fish, and give him away at 10". I'm just kicking myself right now, six months ago I gave away a 55gallon, and now that space has already been filled.

Honestly, I don't know how I could spare more than twenty gallons for the baby aro. I know, I know, thats not big enough. The more reasearch I do, the more I realize it might be best to let this oppritunity go. It's better for the aro. ~ Rex

when you own it yourself, you'll eventually feel the love and upgrade. i went from 100gal, to 150, to 400. and all my fish are happy!

if u can't spare more then 20gal tho, DO NOT BUY IT.....

yes.
once you get the love for aros, the tanks seem to multiply and get much larger. heheh
