Hi,

jus wondering . whats the effect of not fully cured silicone sealant on fish?
i just glued overflow of my tank 12 hours ago. it snot yet 24 hours. first 5-6 hours i covered the silicone sealant with plastic. but now the plastic covering has dropped off.
the silicone is not under water. but it does get splashed with water. will this have effect on the fish? its already dry though not 100% cured since it will take more than 24 hours to fully cure.

thanks

i don't think it has any effect at lest i don't think so. it just won't hold if it gets to wet.

it would raise the acidity of the water... ok if you have tetras but not if you have cichlids...

IE. PH swing....

but thats would be if the thing was submerged... the fumes from curring sillicone are heaver the air, so they will sit ontop of the water and be absorbed...

If the silicone is very thick it will take a long time to cure or may never cure at all. The outside portion that is exposed to the air cures out and then seals the inside from curing totally.

The usual wait time is 7 days.
