Under gravel filter in planted tank

I have just purchased a 6 foot tank that comes with an under gravel filter. I am intending on setting this up as a planted tank. Am I better off leaving the under gravel one in place and adding a cannister filter or getting rid of it and just using a cannister?

get rid of it i'm pretty sure it would do harm to the plants roots get a nice canster.

Ditch the UGF, the roots will tangle, and can be damaged by the edges.

I suspected as much. Consider it ditched. Will just use a canister filter and maybe an internal sponge filter

it will also get rid of nitrates in soil i believe!
