i currently have a 30 gallon aquarium with 2 oscars and a pelco. I know it is kind of small but the oscars arent to big yet and will be moved very soon. But the question i have is are undergravel filters worth using? i have a filter that hangs on the back going as well. I have around 2.5 in of gravel on the bottom if that makes any difference. If i get rid of the filter will i need a seperate bubbler?

thank you,
mike

In general UG Filters are not suggested for cichlids. Most cichlids (Oscars included) like to rearrange their surroundings. This includes digging in the gravel. If a portion of the UGF plate is exposed the filter will not function correctly. If your HOB (Hang on Back Filter) creates aggitation at the water's surface, you shouldn't need the bubbler. Good luck, and welcome to the forums.
