I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to do some moonlighting in the tank, i was thinking about using actinic bulbs.
my boyfriend, however, is afraid they'll be too bright.. and he wants to use blacklight bulbs (which i think will be too dark)
I know there's lots of options, like LEDs or spotlights or whatever, but i was wondering if any of you could get pictures of your tank with your moonlights and tell me what you used to acheive the effect.
thanks a bunch!

I would personally go with the LED's if you want to see the tank with out the normal lights on. Any other option would be too bright.

Here is a reef tank with actinics only on, and it is way too bright IMHO.

Here is a thread that has some pictures of moonlight tanks.

can you show me what LEDs look like in the tank?
and what LED units are you using? cuz some are brighter than others, and i'm also concerned about the depth of our tank. (3ft)

hey i have a thread on this topic look for moonlight at night under the search menu. I used cold cathodes like they use in computer casing. The company I bought them from is called oznium.com
