So i wasn't sure where to post this because it fits multiple sections. I have a 90g long festae growout. 7 Festae. 2 AC110 filters. AC70 and AC50 powerheads. Syno Catfish. 2 3' coralife t5's with dual 10k coralife bulbs.
My problem is that the onions always find a way to get sucked around the filter entrance cutting flow and probably hurting the plant. They also get sucked into the bottom of the powerhead... is there anything i can do to avoid this? ive moved my filters to either edge of the tank with the plants in the middle. is this the best option? is it optimal for my fish to have the filters centered? the plants get blown all different directions because i have an automated alternating current left power head on from 1-6 while the right powerhead is on from 4-10 so the tank has 4 different flow patterns. Do onions like current? Not sure what to do. =/
The festae have been in with the plants most of their life and do not bother them one bit btw. I think they are almost a year old. They seem to enjoy using the plants as a source of cover.
how do you guys keep the onions from getting pulled into the filters and intakes? it seems water relatively flows toward the intakes so sooner or later they get caught in it. seems to usually be sooner.
