Is it possible to have a sump without a drilled tank? If so what size sump and what size pump would be good for a 180? I have an Fx5 and an emperor 400 on it right now and I'm doing 3 25% water changes per week and my waters still cloudy so I'm thinking this could be the answer.... I'm also getting the DIY bug and kinda want somethin to do this weekend!

Yep, I would make a wild guess that at least half the sumps on here are under undrilled tanks. Go to the DIY section of this site and search for overflow pipes. Pretty easy to make out of PVC pipe and fittings. The common design works on a siphon and will restart the flow after a power outage. It is what I use and has been working well. Eventually I will drill my glass 110 and use a bulkhead for more flow.
