I had a 7 inch male jaguar cichlid die the other day but the night before he just seemed a little sluggish. woke up the next morning and he was covered in a white milky slime. I couldn't find anything on it. any suggestions to what might have happened to him?

Weird, did you check your water parameters?

The only thing I can think of would be parasites potentially, or maybe the water itself from your tap

I use water dechlorinator religiously, and my water quality has always been fine. I did notice he was having white stringy poop for the last month so I put him in a quarantine tank and was treating with pimafix

Might have been an internal parasite, I would guess that the white milky slime was postmortem degradation of the slime coat, any dead fish would look like that after a while...

if anybody cares I figured out what happened to my jag, I resealed a tank I had laying around and I put him in it after I cycled it but I used the GE silicone 2 with the fungicide in it and thats what killed him. I just now noticed because I resealed a 125 yesterday and the silicone still in the applicator was different from the stuff I bought for the 125
