So my gf decided to get into the fish keeping hobby. However, her way of doing so was by buying 6 1-2 inch fish and sticking them in my tank. 3 firemouths 2 severums and a gold suam. Now in this tank there is also a 7 inch lone jaguar cichlid. :nilly: I tried to fish those little buggers out of there to try and spare their fate of becoming feeders, but due to plants/logs and their unnatural speed they eluded me for the better part of an hour. Eventually I gave up and allowed the jag to have an expensive dinner.

The next morning I woke up expecting to see a single specimin tank yet again only to descover all 6 little fish remain alive and well. The jags colors were brighter than ever and she was mingling with those little guys like they were her own fry.

The tank is only a 55 gallon with filtration of 2 hob filters rated up to 140 gallons combined. Was planning on moving the jag to my 90 gallon shortly anyways just didnt exect to have my 55 gallon stocked so early!

Yay for happy stories! Glad to hear they're still alive and well and have brought out dominance colours in the jag. Oh, and thanks for the belly laugh, 'However, her way of doing so was by buying 6 1-2 inch fish and sticking them in my tank.'

Funny stuff - get some pics up of the little ones and teach her how to wc and test the water :D

thats pretty cool my jags eat anything that fits in their mouths even their own fry

Nice story...but eventually you still want to get them out. Try to sneak up on them with a flashlight when they sleep - works for me every time (me sneaking up on the fish....).
