I was told today, by a friend of mine that works at his parents' LFS, that the Coralville Bay store in Coralville/Iowa City sustained significant damage from the recent flooding. I had suspected that this may be the case, however, it gets much worse. I guess when the owner found out that his store was in jeopardy, which he lives right behind as I'm told, he started moving his dry goods out first. Well, while he was moving things out of the store, he started having pains and went to the hospital to find out what was going on. Turns out they had to admit him and do some sort of emergency procedure. While this is going on, the water continued to rise, and started to flood his store with all of his tanks and fish still in it! To make matters even worse, his entire filtration system is under the floor. I don't know how things look now, but I'm sure it can't be good. He had a nice little store with some beautiful fish. It's very unfortunate.

If any Iowa members have heard anything else on this, please feel free to add any info.

hope the guys ok...

as for the tanks and fish... ehh.. better them than him... thats what insurance is for

Not heard anything on that but I lost all but my 10 inch Jaguar, some baby cons that were feeders and 2 bushy nosed plecos. The jag is now in my mom's garage, along with 4 empty tanks.......... I'm depressed about that damn flood. I lost every thing.
Seems that the Jag likes the baby cons because after 8 days with no food they were still there, and the week that they have been in the garage they are still there free swimming with the jag. Some feeders just don't get eaten.

Terrible to hear. Health problems mixed with disaster, we are all lucky we don't have to endure that.

:(

that truely sucks, to have health issues, and knowing what you've got to come back to after all the medical probs, hope all turns out ok for this guy, sounds like an uphill battle to me
