I'v had my compressus for about one month. It DOES NOT eat. Does not move from his "special spot" behind the driftwood. Sometimes he gets soo lazy, he rests underneath the wood and remains motionless. Once, i saw him tilting over! I tapped at him, Ehh buddy. You Okay?

He comes out every so often and starts attacking the glass. So hes agressive.. at times. But rarely.

Iv tried feeding him:

-Shrimp
-Frozen Salmon
-Feeder fish-(usually gone the next morning) Except today :$
-zucchini

Nothing works.

p.s prev owner showed picts of him, being restored from a side burn. hence he stalls tilted sometimes. Otherwise an amazing swimmer

Any help?

What setup do you have, tank size, filtration, lighting?

What are you water parameters?

could still be settling in Serras can take a while.

Primary questions/concerns:
Water quality
Tank size/fish size
Tankmates
When did you introduce him to your tank

These are all potential stressors that could affect him eating. Some fish IME don't eat readily, sometimes for days, while adjusting to a new tank.
I would answer these and go from there.

PS - tapping on the glass = not and less stressful for him (but I know you were concerned and all of us have done it)

all sounds like normal piranhas behavior other then the tilting. Sounds like it may be sick. adding a powerhead may help with it going completely stagnant but won't help heal it

people are bringing up new tank..he's had it for a month, and it's just now not eating over the last 4 days, not the duration of the entire month.

You can try soaking some of the food you offer in a little garlic. The potent smell will attract it and not only that it's also a good all natural way to get rid of parasites.

Pics would help as we would know a little better what is the problem and could see some hints.

He started swimming around today- somewhat. Surprisingly coming up to the very top of the tank.

At times he seems lifeless though. Like he will swim, then coast till he hits the glass. Or constantly try and attack the glass to get at something(maybe his own reflection)

Water quality- will get it examined this weekend
Tank size/fish size - fish is about 4'' tank size 40G
Tankmates- Hes had 2 feeder fish in there for the past 2 days now. They eat more than he does!
When did you introduce him to your tank - Aprox. 1 month ago

Will tryn snap some picts in daylight for yall
