I'm a ray keeper considering getting into puffers. What's it like to buy a puffer that looks skinny and weak...can they bounce back well? I know how to help rays come back and when just not to buy them, but can you guys give me an idea on when not to buy a fahaka or mbu and when its ok because I can get them back to full health and what's required to bring one back? A lot to ask, thanks for the help.

Imo, if its a juvie fahaka, say under 3" i wouldnt be surprised if it was very skinny... Since most, if not all are still wild caught and bound to have IP's or some sort of health issue...

But with some care, and the right meds they bounce back pretty well imo... I've dealt with a few sick and skinny puffers and all of them bouned back with no problems...

And seen as your a ray keepers, dealing with sensitive fish shouldnt be a problem...

I bought mine at 1", just a head with HUGE eyes & a tail. No meat on it's bones at all. The shop said they had it for 6 months that way. Unless it looks to be at death's door, you can easily treat for IPs.

Get yourself a mbu if you have room. Amazing fish. If I could keep one with rays I would.

Sounds like skinny is the norm. Good to know. Id use prazipro, anyone advise differently?
