Unidentifiable Algae??? Help...

My tank is experiencing a weird thing right now on the front of the tank there seems to be incredibly small snowflake like organisms on the glass there seems to be about 100 all in a pack..spaced out enough so I could most likely count them...I've never seen anything like this...It doesn't appear to be an algae but im not to sure what they are... Um also my tank base is crushed coral and they're are quite a few live organisms in rock at the base of where all this is happening and i was wondering could they maybe be eggs stuck to the glass?? plz help

pics would help.
could be anything... pods, snail eggs, worms... etc.

moving or non? Hopefully they are pods, which would mean your tank is well established.

However like skene said, they could be anything, so pictures would help quite a bit.

they're stationary on the glass they look like really small snowflakes/starfish they're wavey but not mobile the tank seems to have lots of live organisms or a new tank iunno tell me what you think...thanks!

lol i know first thing tomorrow I got a new digi camera for xmas so ill get some snap shots and post em up lol then well finally be able to solve this mystery...

ok well if they are white and most likely 6 legged starfish... then it is probably one of these...

Some are good... some are bad. If you read in the stickies (on top of the forum) about common hitchhikers on rock then you would have known about it.

I had my uncle look at my tank and he confirmed they are copepods...PHEW! Thanks anyways guys I can stop worrying...

no offense to them.. but alot of old timer fish keepers (at least ones set in the old ways) are quick to label anything small as a copepod..

i'd make sure your uncle is not one of those people first
