Unidentified Central American

I was kinda thinking it may be a bocourti. But I've never seen a juvi so I couldn't say with certainty.

Yeah I'm pretty much positive it's one of those two, I'd lean towards bocourti as well because of the orage/gold... but the two species look very similar to me when young

I does look like a pearsei or bocourti to me too, here are some pics to compare.
First young pearsei

now young bocourti

As they grow, pearsei usually exit a dark area in the abdomen that bocourti don't.
you can see it beginning to show in the pic below

Awesome responses guys, duanes duanes always great information and pictures from you I appreciate the imput.

Looking at the photos you shared I'd have to say this guy is a bocourti. That's kind of what I thought. But I wanted to be sure. Gourami Swami Gourami Swami called it right away. Thanks guys.

View attachment 1269325 Does anyone know if my Jaguar cichlid is male or female

As for you, you should post this on a thread asking about the sex of a Parachromis managuensis. But no harm no foul. Its still Abit small to call, it looks to be about 3 inches? Maybe 4? That about right? Kinda looks like alittle male that hasn't grown his pointy fins yet. But I still say let it grow out Abit and re-ask. But maybe some one else can give you a better more clear response.

Covetous Covetous , not any relation to this thread lol, but how are the umbees doing?!?
