Let me start by saying that I have never owned an Eheim filter and I am completely ignorant when it comes to them. I hear they are great filters, but they have always been a bit pricey for my taste.

With that being said....I came across this Eheim filter for sale at a reasonable price, so I jumped on it. When I got it home and really started looking at it, I noticed that it looks like the pump on top is a replacement. Basically my questions are: 1) What model Eheim do I have? 2) How many gallons per hour will it filter (approx)? 3) Is it a good filter?

Thanks,
Lou

Could it just have a Eheim pump on it, but not really a Eheim filter?

I have one of these, you can upgrade the pump on these.

It is Eheim 2250. It is missing the top cover which is not very important. This is its specs:
Aquarium Size: 265 gal
Filter Volume: 3.2 gal
Pump Output: 264 gph

or you can check out this link for more details: http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewi..._campaign=mdcsegooglebase2&utm_content=EH2250

Oh.....now I know why it didn't look like any other Eheim's i've seen....because it's missing the cover. Thank you very much sir. I basically got the filter as a throw in from a guy I bought a 120 gallon tank/stand off of....so I guess I got a pretty good deal. It seems like a pretty powerful filter.

Here is the Eheim link to your filter. It's a PDF file and you will have to scroll down the page to find the English version.

Your filter is about 16" tall, right? If so, it is a 2250. Good score on the filter.

I think is smaller than the 2260 an 2262 {witch are the same canister different pump}
But the good thing is that you can add these other pumps to it .
2260= 600gph
2262= 900gph

IMO :
The 2250 holes less media than the other 2 witch will get you less contact time on media with more flow pump. I would only go with the next pump up ,
2260=600gph pump

It is a Eheim 2250. I currently have one running on my 2250.
