I just got a pretty cool 75 gallon uniquarium.
I have it set up with marinepure spheres on the bottom half and bioballs over them.
I been hearing it's better to replace the bioballs with more marinepure? Any thoughts on that...

If the bioballs are completely submerged, I would. If not, and imho, then there's no need to. Bio-balls are excellent for trickle biofiltration. They just don't have the same amount of surface area as marine pure for submerged bio-filtration. In the end, if your ammonia = nitrite = 0ppm everyday and you have no white bacterial bloom then you are good.

Thanks bud! Yes the bioballs are exposed to air with trickle.
I have extra marinepure 1.5" spheres and was thinking of replacing bioballs. My buddy Keith from Encinitas Tropical Fish rip always talked about bioballs being better in a trickle then media but now I hear from saltwater guys that everyone is ditching bioballs.
