I happened to be at a "chain" type LFS the other day, and this Silver Aro caught my eye. It was very strange looking.... Almost all white, Barbels 99% white, even it's eyes seemed to be lacking color other than the pupil. Immediately I thought Snow! Looking closer I noticed there is a strange white pearly sheen to it depending on the angle of the light. I mean completely white sheen. I have kept many Silvers and Blacks over the years, but have never seen this in person before! I would not say that this guy is perfectly white all over, as he does have coloration in the fins, and slight pink highlights in his scales, but the white "sheen" is something I have never seen before. It is about 11 inches and in PERFECT condition, no drop eye, both barbels completey intact.

I'm having a heck of a time getting a picture to show well what Im trying to describe, but as soon as I do I will post up. Anyone have anything like this?

Thanks,
Chris

These pics do it NO justince at all, the flash seems to wash out the pearly sheen, but without the flash my tank is too dark, and a bit yellowed from driftwood. But here are my first efforts, more to follow when I borrow a decent Digi...... These are taken with a 1.3mega pixel Sony Cyber Shot from the dark ages.......

And he looks white with no flash? Or just very silver?

Thats kinda the point.... I was just wondering how many other members have happened upon silvers like this, as it is a different color. It's the first time I have seen one like this localy ever, and I have been keeping silvers for quite a few years.

I didnt mean that I am saying that this is a "snow" aro, but thats what came to mind when I first saw it. It is nowehere near as completely white as a "snow", just brings that to mind. It does also have a very white pearly like sheen to it though, not silver, but def. white. Hopefully I can get some decent pics later.

Nice fish , both of them, I would love to have one.. thinking about about one.. but I only have a 150 tall, its mostly one big square and I Know it wouldnt be a good long term home.. as he grew...:nilly: Where do i go...only in circles...
