Have you tested your water?
Yes
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes

Hey guys,

I recently acquired this unique body shaped flowerhorn, i liked the shape as it looked quite MONSTERISH with a more bulkier front and with a broader nuchal hump than usual. Like a rio grande.

Firstly, this is the most docile fh i have ever come across. Its a very cowardly one, 0 interaction with me as ive experienced with other flower horns. It just likes to hide like a jack dempsey. Might be as ive had him for just 2 weeks. Ive put a mirror in there and he couldnt care less.

Anyways, im wondering if any one can notice it swimming oddly, at an angle, i did feed it to get him out n swimming, but he doesnt seem to have that usual straight charging swim that fh's do.

Ive uploaded a short to youtube for you to see, https://youtube.com/shorts/2FlN-hrcC8Y?feature=share

im wondering now whether he has either a sunken belly, or.... Some swim bladder issue?

He is weird but nice looking. You should see towards the end that he has a balancing issue?

I will upload more vids if requested, but in the meantime,

What do you think?

What have u been feeding? It looks a bit more thin than have a sunken belly. Maybe a bit of a sunken belly. Just my old man eyes. Could be a balance issue as it wasn’t clear to me. Would feed some food mixed with metronidazole and epsom salt, 1 tbsp per 5g. Watch the poop and keep nitrates below 20ppm.

I don’t see any swim bladder problems. My flowerhorn swims the same saw when he’s digging in the substrate too. I only see sunken belly

I know they’re different varieties but my red dragon swims like that when he’s “curious” and digging through the substrate.

His poop is the same colour red as his food (vibra bites) n general staple food. Ive been deworming anyway with api gc. Yes mixed it his food and always use salt.

I think more videos are needed...bare with me.

Seems to be swimming ok now after eating n doing a poo. How odd. He was slightly swimming at an angle, floating up at the rear slightly when i woke up. Now he seems brilliant. Ive zoomed in on his poo. I think this guy is ok n needs some cichlid sticks from now on.

I honestly thought he wasnt normal earlier.
