saw sunday nights river monsters and was wondering if anyone has any ideas on wat the spiny backed pink animal he snapped a photo of in the amazon in the beggining of the show was

Turned out to be a dolphin that was hacked up by a fisherman who got mad at it because it got tangled up in a fishing net.The dolphin lived sans dorsal fin and a mutilated back.

I don't think that's what it really was... i mean, chances are a fish would have smelt that blood, and it would have gotten eaten.

Most fish in the Amazon are afraid of dolphins. Dolphins will swim into shoals of piranha fearlessly. Its actually amazing to watch.
