Unkown Growth on plec

Last night I saw that my sail-fin plec had a growth on the top of his head. It was small about the size of his eye, it was mostly red with brown on top and barely looked like it was connected, more like it was just sitting on top of his head. This morning it looked smaller but was still there, anyone know what this is, hopefully it's not a parasite.

If it doesn't look like a injury then it would have to be a parasite.

Pics please. What are your water parameters? Tank size and tankmates?

I can't get any pics of it cause it has shrunken so much and is now just barely there it is in a 29g long tank with 2, 5" oscars untill I re-seal my 90 gallon. Ph level is 6.8, and I need to get an amonia and nitrite testing kit.
