I have the perfect spot (so I thought) for my new 40b tank. The problem is that the floor in this spot is very unlevel. Looks to be about a 1/4" or so unlevel. I overbuilt a wooden stand for it using 2x3's. Stand is very sturdy and level when placed on level surface. I'm just looking for some suggestions on what to use to put under stand in order for it to be level before placing tank on it. Thanks.

Shims are the simplest solution. Buying those screw leveler jobs like the have on stoves and fridges and the like would be another option.

Which way is the floor out of level? Front to back or across the side to side length?

Cardboard. Haha. Seriously I wouldn't worry too much about it with that small of a tank. It's got an inherently stable footprint as is.

I must agree with aclockworkorange. But if it's a great concern of yours, I would definitely use door shims. They're inexpensive, easy to use and a pack of about 12 should run about $2.50 to $3.00 at most lumber/tool/hardware stores. You best places to check are ACE Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot. Maybe a True Value Hardware as a last resort, if there's one in your town.

i have a similar problem with the floor in my dining room that my 210 is on.. the water is 1/2" higher on one end (compared to the top rim of the tank, the water is actually level, the tank is not).. i figure life just isn't perfect and the fish don't know the difference.

Uhhh, water will always be level. The most accurate, tried and true, level in the world is a water level.

i know the way i said it it sounded funny.. but i'm not really stupid. i promise. i think my point was that the fish just don't care if their tank is perfectly level or not.
