Sometimes when we especially like a certain genus, we want to get a bunch of species from that genus, and put them together.
This seldom occurs in nature, because these would be direct competitors, and in nature, one would either eliminate the other, or evolve into something else.
Many years ago I'd try to put 3 or 4 species of Vieja, or Parachromis together, usually with disastrous results.
I now try to combine different shapes and colors together, they don't seem to see each other as competitors and "usually" it works.
Here are a few, non-geographically correct combos that do, so far.

The 2 below are considered same genus, but because of their difference in shape and coloration, work so far

That is cool and good info. I have always had trouble keeping thorichthys w/ my a. Robertsoni, but some how my robertsoni is getting along w/ my a. Rostratus. This shouldn't be working, but somehow it is. My robertsoni only chases my JD. Maybe the colors matter?
