It seems there are certain common species of tropical fish that members here do not raise to their full potential. I'd like to see yours. I'm talking about common silver dollars, tinfoil barbs, bala sharks, and the likes. These fish grow to be substantial adults, yet you never see them in show tanks. A 7" red tipped shark is a very cool looking fish IMO. So are a lot of the other "petsmart" classics. I'd like to see if anyone has these fish at full size. I don't want to see your prize pbass or your giant arro, I'm looking for full sized petsmart gold.

I will take a picture of my dads tank at Christmas. He has 3 kissing gouramis and a couple silver dollars. All are over six inches and the biggest a good couple inches bigger. They are 10 plus years old.

shed aquarium in chicago has monster balas and red tails. There so beautiful and ugly at the same time ;)

I will try to get a pic later of my pink kissing gourami. I would have to guess its 9-10 inches.

Those fish do not fullfill the defintion of monster, so i don't keep them.

But you are right, rarely are the big ones seen. I beleive people use them as dithers and then get read of them ( i would, anyway...)
