Unravelled VHS tape as filter media?

As the title states. Anyone see any issues using old VHS tape, unraveled and placed into a sump (90G sump) as bio media?

I came across like 30 tapes that need disposed of, just trying to think of a way to recycle them.

I would say NO to using any magnetic media in an aquarium. VHS tape is made of mylar coated with several metals. These metals ( iron oxide, cobalt, copper, and others) may pose a health hazard in an aquarium.

Dont dispose it,, u can very well keep it for antique purposes
