My new bichir has been been living alright and its been feeding too, but they way it eats is unusual and didnt know if it was normal. When i fed it thawed shrimp, it would grab a large chunk and do a barrel roll (similar to the death roll an alligator does). Another time i was feeding it frozen brine shrimp and it would grab a mouthful, more than it can eat, and then some of it would leave out through its gills. i dont know cus my previous bichir never ate like that and i thought it might be worth my time saying

what kind of bichir did you get? every fishes has its own personality, and i believe its practically normal.

mine has done barrel rolls with earthworms, and as far as brine shrimp exiting the gills, that doesnt surprise me either as those are very fine particles and some could easily pass back out the gills once in the mouth.

bichirs eating is the cutest thing to me.. they grab it and throw it and tackle it and they chomp on it... reminds of a dog with a bone... love them..
