I'm still new to cichlids and still learning about them. Well I bought this fish at one of my LFS and was told its a blue Acara. After looking up some photos on the net I'm not quite sure it is. It just doesn't look much like the blue Acara's I've seen photos of. I found one photo on another form that looked similar to my fish and they were told it was a young Jack Dempsey.
This fish is appox 3.5-4 inches long. Has a ridge of dark orange running on the top dorsal fin. Has blue dots speckling all over pretty much. I've seen photos of Acara's with the spots forming blue lines under the eyes and my fish's spots do not do this. It just has spots, even on the top of the head. The pics aren't the best as it kept moving but here's hoping they will do. Also any guess on sex would be helpful too.
