my pacu started last week swimming like crazy back in forth in the tank he has rube 2 sore spots on his face from the glass, is there anything wrong with him.

the tank is a 150 show and the fish is about 9 to10 inch the tanks has a grave bed and the tank mate are one koi about 7 inch with one crayfish and a small alge eater the only other thing it i am floating my fry in the top

What are the water parameters? What test kit are you using? What do you feed your fish? How often do you feed?

ph at 7.5 i use r/o water for changes everything else are low do to recent water change . i have 2 emperor filters .i feed alge waffers/ and wardley floating cichlid pellets medium and tetramin flake food to fry . i also but in some green like lettas everynow and then waer is a little hard but i use just a touch of salt . tds meter reads around 500 before the r/o and 0 after

What about your ammonia and nitrites? Are both zero at all? What salt did you use? Don't use salt unless you are treating for ich. If your TDS meter is that accurate, then this looks like osmotic shock to me. How did you do the changes to your water chemistry?

i feed once daily and i use a tetra kit
Switch to API brand to double check your actual water parameters.

i use api aquarium salt less then two table spoons, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are on the low side of the test kit bearly readable that what got me stumped the only thine i use after a water change is stability but i have use the same thing for years with my pacus my last lived over 7 years and only lost them due to ice storm here in the midwest we lost power for 3 weeks

Nitrates are low? How long have you had this test kit? This is why I suggested switching to API for accurate results.
