My 5 adult yellow labs and one ice blue have been acting strangely. Every few minutes one of them twists side ways so that their side touches the ground. The whole thing is very quick and only takes a second. I am not sure whether this is normal behavior or if they are itching or something. They are eating fine on nls pellets and spirulina flakes.

My ph is 7.9 and no nitrites and barely any nitrate (it was so little that the almost clear water colour did no come up on the test chart)

I have some AQUARI-SOL medication, It says it is effective for Ick, Protozoan Parasites and Velvet. Should I add some of this in just to be safe?

I will try to catch it on video

Thanks:)

It's called flashing, and as far as I've seen, it's what mbuna do a lot of. No need to worry.

My red belly piranha do this lately but i heard it was bad or a sign of aggresion towards others..

i think all chiclids do this i have a african tank and south american tank all my fish do the same thing wait till they start vibrating as a mating ritual my mbuna do it alot and my bumble bees as well

i know the guys have said its normal behavior, maybe it is i have no idea :D, but if mine do it i know ther tryin to scrach something off, just my 2 pence worth.

If they are indeed flashing as others have said (and sounds like it from your description) it is not a problem, unless it is happening too often (based on previous behavior). Most fish will do this from time to time, but if they start doing it more often then that could be a sign of ich or some other disease. I would try to examine each fish, looking for ich or any other problems. If this behavior continues for a few days then I might medicate - but again it depends on how much they are doing it.

Thanks everyone I will keep and eye on them and make sure they aren't doing it to often. As for the the vibrating I have seen that a few times and 2 of my yellow labs have mated so I have one holding right now:D
