I posted on here a few days back about putting fronts in a 55g. Most agreed that it was too small of a tank for fronts. Fronts are hard to come by around here and I didn't want to pass them up. So I got 2 and put them in my 120g.
Here's where things get weird...
First off everyone seems to be getting along! African knife, Black Ghost Knife, Silver Dollars, Rainbow fish, Rapheal Cat, Peacock Eels......and of course the 3"-4" fronts.

Even weirder is the fact that I put a seachem ph monitor in the tank and it's off the chart(8.2+). This tank is planted and has lots of cypress wood. I bought some liquid API high range ph tester and its off the chart(won't even change colors?!?!?)

So I think I'm going to keep the fronts in this tank until there's a problem if one ever occurs.

And the 55g.....
it looks nice with it's dark background and white sand, I think I want to put some other africans in it. But I don't know where to start. I think I might want to try Blue Ahli and yellow labs.....

What do ya think?

in terms of aggression and/or predation, I don't see too many problems with the stocklist. I'm sure others will comment in regards to water parameters, but that also depends on if the fish are wildcaught, locally-bred, etc

I have a juvenile front in with a BGK too. Doesn't seem to bother either one of them.

Well today I moved the fronts into the 55g for now. Why you ask. Because my BGK is missing. I know they are masters of hiding, however I have looked everywhere and cannot find a trace of him. My biggest front is only like 4.5" and the BGK is as long as he is.
I know the front couldn't have swallowed him, but I hope he's not trapped in a driftwood crevice.
I never saw any aggression. They would swim past and eat next to each other and never an aggressive move.
I think/hoping the BGK was just freaked out and is in hiding. He was/is the center piece of the 120.

As for the frontosa, they will just have to be patient. I'm thinking I'll set up a 150g (6') for them and some calvus, and then use the 55g for some smaller africans.

I have many unusual tankmates for my fronts and my colony breeds well. they're in a neutral ph though and captive bred themselves. I've seen some odd combinations with fronts although most like to keep them species-only or tang-only. calvus are very slow growers so you may want to start growing them out now.
