I have a 55 gallon with 14 af cichlids under 2 inches a piece. PH is around 7.8, nitrites and nitrates are normal, and ammonia is zero. The fish look perfect, no spots, no noticable parasites. I treated the tank with Tetra algea control to kill off a bit of algea the other day. It cleared the tank up perfectly, but the day after i realized the fish were rubbing on the rocks ALOT. It is every fish. I dont think they have ich but the tank has had ich in the last year.. so im not ruling it out. does anyone know what the issue could be? or if it cold be caused solely by the algea control?

thanks

the algae control could have stripped some of their slime coat off of them.. and theyre irritated...

just my .02 cents..

you may want to add a good dose of stress coat to the water after a large water change

Next time, don't use algaecides to sort your algae problem. Sort the actual cause, not the problem itself.

I would get a pleco. It will take care of your algae and the cichlids won't bother him.
