Ty. I bought it as a firemouth for $2.99. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like as an adult.
It was a pet supply store that carries a limited variety of fish and was in a tank with a firemouth label.. I knew better and may have subliminal suggested that it was a firemouth to a clueless teenager stock boy. LOL @ bigbadfish. It looked like a standard length flowerhorn when I bought it!
Nice update I am still jealous of your awesome finds I haven't found any cool mislabeled hybrids in 2 years! Last thing I got is a weird jack dempsey/convict at pet supplies plus for $3 and he is nowhere near as cool as what you've found lately. I love shopping at stores that sell fish and nobody there knows what they are.
Cam, if you're ever in the Lansing area, stop at the Pet Supplies Plus at the corner of Pennsylvania and Miller just a 1/4 mile north of the Cedar st. exit off I96. It's the only one that has any fh's or any decent cichlids for that matter. I bought a nice carpintis there also. There or the Soldans in Charlotte. That's where I got my male rd and the little female above.
