Howdy. Thought I would post an update on my 180g community that has been running since early in December. Growth rates are no where near what some of you guys get but the fish are healthy and seem to be growing steadily. They seemed huge when I saw them after a trip overseas for a fortnight so they must be growing!

First the GT. He is my favourite and you can see how he is changing by comparing to my avatar that was shot at the beginning of January. Any idea's on the sex or is it too early to tell? It's about 2-2.5"

Next is the Dempsey. He's still boss of the tank and is starting to show some blue coming through. He's a good boss so far, keeps the other fish in line but doesn't seem to be overly aggressive.

Here is the Blue Acara. He was supposed to be a replacement GT for one that never settled but I'm happy with the fish. Looks like he might grow into a very pretty fish. He's got a little stress barring in this shot because the Salvini had just run him off.

Finally in this shoot is the Texas. Early signs that this guy isn't going to be happy with it's current place down the pecking order. I will have to watch her(?) closely over the next few months. Another fish I'm hoping will be spectacular as it grows. It already shows off an awesome colour most of the time.

The shots aren't the best in the world but certainly better than many I have taken. I used the sports mode to get a faster shutter speed and it has helped alot!

ya gotta love them salvinis mean little buggers. but an awsome cichlid's, nice job on the tank:)

Nice fish. I too had a GT in a community and he initially grew the quickest and controlled the tank but as the others caught up he was beaten up pretty bad and didn't make it. Hope yours ****inues to grow and keep an eye on the salvini , they can be nasty.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'll be watching all of the fish closely but I'm sure the Salvini and the Tex are likely to be the biggest aggressors. The Salvini can be a bit aggro already but it seems mostly territorial. He won't chase far and when he is away from his area he is passive. Of course how he behaves at 2" and 6" might be a different story. I guess I'll find out soon enough if the fish take a real dislike to each other.

Here's a ful tank ahot from December. I should take an updated one as it is a bit tidier now.
