Discus have settled in so well and started eating the day after! Added a new member a few days ago which is a Super Red Melon called Apple :D

She started eating 2 days after I introduced her to the tank and has settled in so well! Just thought I'd put a few more pics up.

It's so pretty.

Nice. My favorites are those in the top photo.

But I thought discus are kept in a species as they're very fragile if kept with tank mates right?
So say some people. Might be true of some of the weak breeding strains that are out there. But not at all true ime.

There are differing schools of thought on a number things about discus keeping. Half of them are myths imo, especially when someone insists it's the only way to do it. Or else they're a consequence of the unnatural way some people keep and feed discus, or possibly they're true of some of the weak, overbred strains that are out there these days. From my experience, healthy discus are much more robust than some people give them credit for being (and I've kept several strains, including wild).

Defnitely agree with this. So far I've found my discus to be incredibly hardy! I got them all from a very good seller so they are very healthy. Currently keeping them with rams, bristlenose plecs and soon will be getting black cories! they are all doing really well. I feed the rainbows separately from discus. Discus get beefheart and a mussel mix i make at home. rams get a frozen community mix full of greens and various crustaceans. the discus feed on that too - piggies all of them!
