My apologies then, it just looks like it has a few spots on it.
I have been keeping and breeding Mayans for some time, and yours has the shape of a female. obviously i can never be 100% accurate from a photo, but i'd say i'm about 90% sure of it.
If you want to see a spectacular fish like yours, get even more spectacular looking, intrudoce a mate. trust me, the change is incredible!

i have one more specimen, lemme see if i can capture a pic of it and then i shall post it up and see what it is, but right now it is in another tank as that one being shredded by this one
I agree, very nice fish you have there. Is that a blue coloring I see in the dorsal and around the head? Very sharp looking fish.
I have always liked this fish - its breeding dress is quite attractive. I currently have a pair breeding for the second time - I'll try and snap some pics soon.
