Just wanted to share a few pictures of my Green Terror that I salvaged from the local PetSmart. The fish at my store are generally all in great condition but IDK what happened to this guy in his life...

This is the day I brought it home...purchased around Thanksgiving if I remember right.

As you can see, fins are ragged, coloration makes it look like my black gravel is brighter than its scales, and no typical green terror markings worth talking about.

This pic was taken earlier this week.

Since purchase, the GT had become ill and was treated with API General Cure (for locked fins, refusing to eat, laying on bottom of tank) as well as Mardel Macaryn 2 (for Hole In The Head...had a pit between its eyes that would pucker when the fish would breathe...also had lacking appetite). GT still doesnt eat like it used to...doesnt attack the food anymore, instead, lets it sit and eats it a bit at a time thru the day.

Obviously, fish looks a lot better, and is now a full 3" from mouth to tailfin, but still is dissappointing me in the darkness...Green is starting to show and be irredescent on it's sides, but not like I'm wanting. A deep orange is forming on the fins, and it's mouth markings are great. It's eyes still look a bit popped out, even after treatment. Still debating on male/female gender.

It also is pretty much scared to death of everything. Tends to hide more than swim around.

I hope this can be of use to someone who may find themselves in a situation such as mine. I know the majority of this forum usually buys their fish from local private LFS or order online so they can get a pedigree fish...But I felt so bad for this fish and longed to have one fully grown. Any advice that can be given is appreciated.

General care for fish during recovery:

30% water change at least twice a week

Water temp set to ~ 82*F

Omega One color enhancing tropical fish pellets
Omega One color enhancing kelp pellets
Omega One mysis shrimp
Hikari Cichlid Gold food

Well done, she is starting to look good!

My LFS has a 5-6 inch GT that looks like it had the snot beaten out of it and I am considering taking him on.

Your GT is looking much better. The black gravel and dark background will keep the fish dark. Use PFS for your substrate if you want it to lighten up. I keep mine with a black background and PFS and they show nice colors. Good job bringing it back around.
