Update: La Ceiba Pair

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome pair bro, and very imformative video as well. I really like the Parachromis Genus. I've had a Freddy male , a Loisellei male and a Motaguensis pair and currently have a Managuensis pair. I have to say that I've enjoyed them all. Keep up the good work and post more pics/vids.

Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!
By far my favorite parachromis species as well, and you have the nicest La Ceibas to top it off
Keep babying them ;)

Very nice as always.. I always like looking at your Freddys
The one question I have is if yours are F2. Then how are mine F1s? Mine aren't too much bigger& I have always kept them in 100gal+ tank, well fed& 50%WC/ wk

Makes me think that I need to dig out the bag& contact the seller.
(Got them at OCAs Extravaganza Nov. 2011)

Yours could still be younger than mine as i believe they have been in the hobby for 4-5 years now and the parents to mine would be 3 years old or so and my pair is around 2 years old or so as they sat in a lfs @ 2" for 8 months at least. Not to mention mine have been given a minimum of 100% wc weekly and given little stress and good food.

FYI, the "F" designation is a reference to the generation they are from wild caught fish (F0). Another words, F1 is the first generation from a wild caught pair, F2 would be the second generation and so on. I'm pretty sure Forrest's freddie's are from Mel which were wild caught, so they should be F1's as well.

Yes I know what the F means.
If his are F1 also then that would explain a lot. Our pairs are the same size& look almost identical. ( I lack photo skills though. :P )
Every other pair I've seen don't look as good though.

Funny thing to note about the la ceibas, i raises a male which was a sibling to mine now to over 7" before getting the two i have now and because he never bred (im guessing) his colors were terrible and were constantly pale with little to no yellow or gold or any of the blue mine have. was a dissapointement of a fish to be honest but once my two paired up and spawned their colors never looked back. Breeding when it comes to these guys is a big factor in terms of color.
