After the last thread some time ago Bubba the pacu is still kicking but in declining health. He has developed a number of open sores around his head and I have yet to treat them successfully. I am currently trying medicated food along with a water treatment but neither has had enough time to be effective. A significant issue is his tendency to bump against the tank sides or the gravel bottom, which may inflame his wounds. Any help would be appreciated.

Salt is the only thing I could recommend for the open sores. Iv personaly been lucky and have only really dealt with ich and a few other minor issues.
At the risk of thread necromancy, an update. Currently the open sores are getting worse, so I will try salt again. I am not allowed to use oil extract treatments as they cloud the water, food with antibiotics are out because they are too small for him to catch and supposedly cause him to root around in gravel. The "mother" of the fish is a bit controlling when it comes to treatments, so I am predicting death in a few more months.
