Recently got a black aro here in toronto (very hard to come by), and decided to try and see if it would mix nicely with my red. Been a few days now and there is no aggression between the two! My flagtail has been the one who gets bullied.
When I had the black alone, it was a very picky eater and didn't eat much at all. Now that it sees the red munching on superworms and shrimp, it simply follows the leader and starts eating as well. I'm thinking the black likes the company of another aro whereas the red doesn't mind too much at all.
If things continue to be peaceful in the next coming weeks/months, I'm gonna splurge on a new setup.
My red has gained in girth a LOT, if some of you recall my previous thread when I first got it. Red colour has become more intense in the fins and it's wearing deep red lipstick. Cheeks are growing more orangy/red everyday. Scales developing nice shine as well.
I'll update the status in the coming weeks.
Sorry for the crappy pics...they were from the cell phone.

I really gotta borrow a nice camera to take up close shots of these fish...

I need lessons in fish photography haha...

I can stand there and take 100 pictures, but only a handful are barely decent.

Yea it is really tough... I have to take like 50 shots in order to get a few really nice ones... I don't know what kind of settings you have on your camera, but mine is pretty decent... I use bracket shooting (shoots off 3 quick shots) and portrait settings where I slowly follow the fish around until I think I have a shot... Not that I'm a pro... but maybe it'll help a little...

Very nice fish! Any plans for the bottom (fish)? What kind of red is it?

Wonderful set-up! Does your camera have a close-up setting? Thats what I use, I put the camera very close to the tank and with the close up setting there is no flash so it doesnt spook the fish or make the picture look odd.

Very nice aro's!
