Well hes still growing great and still looks beautiful. He is starting to now get his attitude and will be moved into his own tank over the next couple of days because he doesnt like a couple of the ciclids hes in with.

Enjoy!

looks great . . . very nice colors, and his head seems to have a pretty decent shape to it (I've seen some EBJDs go pretty ugly with beak-face) . . .

how big is he?

nice and healthy fish :)

the color is interesting though....

I believe the color is a result of the light substrate...

I had my EBJD with dark substrate and he was a very deep blue, once I switched to a light sand, he became the same sky/greenish blue...

Yeah when we first got him i had him in a tank byhimself with a darker substrate and his colour was alot different, im not sure if its just the camera or lighting though but the purple on his head looks nice in pics.

It is my understanding as sub-adults, the blue will remain patchy until they are fully mature...

Are yours sub-adults as well?

I grew them from 2" to 4" before I sold them. Still kicking myself for doing that.

some old pics when they were at about the same size as OP -
