Update on Geophagus sp. "Tapajos Orange Head" tank

It's been two months seen I last posted here. Sorry for the late update.
The orange heads have grown from 1.5" to 3-3.5" in these two months. I'm quite surprise to the growth rate. I thought that these guys are slow growers.

Their tails are still a bit teared up. As you can see from the video below, they keep chasing each other. They just kept getting themselves hurt, then heal up, then hurt again. This seems not affecting their health, so I led them be.

He (or she, I can't tell) is the boss of the tank. He likes his rock, and would normally stay there the whole day chasing anyone who came close.

This is my most prized guy. In 3.5", he has already got his trailers developing and the head bright orange. He got a particularly blunt head. I am quite curious why is the difference.

P.S. Do anyone know what is the white tube/sting located just before the anal fin? I noticed this tube on every orange head a few days ago. I first thought of egg tube, but quickly ruled that out because they are too small, or am I wrong?
