Man, this is terrible. I dunno what the hell has happened to me. I use to have as close to perfect fish as one could get. The number of fish I have lost in over 20 years i can count on one hand.
Frigin feeders :(:irked: ................. I have not had much time to pay attention to my 2 new little babies. I checked them out tonight and they both have ick. One looks like he has slightly advanced more than the other and also has a little bit of cloudy eye. They are still separated (one in a 20 gal., and the other in the 20L gallon). The damn 8Ft. tank is not finished yet. i am still working on the plumbing. The guy (expert) that was helping me hasn't been available.
To top things off I am trying to raise the temp in the tanks ( I have 2 Marine land heaters the semi cheapy ones that you turn the nob to put the temp where ya want it.) Well, they are not working too well. I can't seem to get either tank over 85..... I added 7 table spoons of salt in each tank. I guess I will pull the UV ster off my 220 and run it one each one for a few days. Of course I did a 40% WC on both before I started all this.
I am a little nervous because I know they are very sensitive to meds. If not I would just drop some quick cure in. I really hope the salt works. I guess i will add a little more prime in also for good faith. I would take pics but my wife felt it necessary to leave the damn cable for the cam at her brothers.
I lost a wolf fish not too long ago. I better not lose one of these guys:irked:
If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to give them now. I didn't put this in the "sick" forum because I am just trying to give an update on them.
So, besides the illness, they are both eating and seem to be as active as they normally are. No heavy breathing or anything and getting bigger for sure!! I will charge the cam tonight and take some pics tomorrow and post them if I get the cable back.

sounds like they will be fine.

use salt only! no prime or anything else!

u have a hydrometer? do a 25% waterchange every day and re-add the salt u took out.

this is very common.

as long as they keep eating they will be fine. once they are healthy they wont get ick from the feeders anymore.

good luck!

very good advice.
try to get a new heater if youre too worried.
keep up those water changes and theyll be fine.

I have never owned a armatus but i have used maracyn2 to treat a few scombs and a redtail more than once for ick and it allways worked out. The scombs of course went on to die later of unknown causes but that is pretty normal. And the redtail is still kicking. i always here that they are sensitive to meds. But my redtail spent about 3months in a feeder tank which got weekly treatings of quick cure full strength when new feeders were introduced and i never head any problems doing that. When i took my TAT out of the big tank he had fin rot and ick and i put him in the 10g hospital tank and treated him with maracyn2 and salt he bounced back after about 4 days. Its your fish so do what you want, but for me any new rare fish i get are getting a maracyn2 bath while they acclimate in the bucket for a few hours on a drip. I have not had a bout with ick since i started this treating.

Armatus IME are pretty resistent to ick. 85 is fine, maybe 86-87 but its VERY important with the increased temp that you have some serious o2 being diffused into the water. Keep your water clean and well oxygenated and they will be fine. Armatus are hardy as hell. When mine was only like 4" he jumped out when I was moving from his QT and flopped around on my floor for like 20 seconds and all was well.

I wouldn't worry too much.....AFTER you get a decent couple heaters..... This is important... I just got done goin rounds with this crap. Not just once either. Thought I had it under control in the Armatus tank so I moved my friggin eye thieving dat to the Fahaka tank where he gave it to the Fahaka. Did a water change added salt ran temp up to 87. Noticable improvement in 2 days almost clear in 4. I bulked them up during the ich treatment and been starving them ever since to try to get off live......dirty feeders.

Thx for all your advice guys. Your making me feel better anyway. I will give an update on their progress soon..

Yeah, stay away from meds as much as possible. Ich is probly one of the easiest fixes

One thing you might want to do is keep a feeder tank. Im planning on setting up my 50gl tank real soon and throwing my 25wttUV on it with a RenaX3 and buy comets in bulk. Its like 1k feeders for about 50-60 bucks and just treat the hell out of the tank with 50% daily water changes. Once I do that Im ganna toss about 100pcs in the 300gl and little by little till I have about 1 round left and buy another 1k and start the Q-tank for about another 2-3 weeks before adding. Just trying to give your prize fish healthy fish
