So I posted in here asking if anyone knew if my African had a disease or what it was b.c he wouldnt use his back tail to swim and was acting weird and stuff, well I am happy to say that he is still alive and healthy, but I am sad to say that I think he had a fishie stroke. He still wont use his back tail fin so that is the conclusion iI have come up with. So I ve decided to give him my 10gal for the time being to himself seeing as how he's not that big and is doing fine in there. I gave hime some zebra danios and neon's as tank buddies and it seems to have given him the movitvation to swim, I think it was a good Idea adding them in there it'll get him used to not being able to use that back tail fin. :D Anyways the tank was bare empty and lonely and this is now what it looks like: (Hes the yellow blob in the back right.) oh and dont worry when he gets bigger I have a bigger home for him :)

Hey Ash,
I hope your African does better. So I remember from a different thread about a blackish fish with white or yellow trim on it's fins and you didn't know the name. Well...I went to my lfs and they had it. It's called a Cheroke...or something like that. :D

lol thanks I'll have to look it up now =) , yah I hope he is better too.

Hi Ash, any further developments on this issue? I have a joanjohnsonae male with them same symptoms. Am busy treating him with a couple of medicines and he looks to be getting better. I have him in a net hanging onto the side of the tank. Funny enough he has not lost his appetite. Used to swim out from his place in the rocks to eat before I put him into the net. :naughty: :clap  :mwave:

What are you treating him with?? Right now He looked like he's doing better and the spots started going away but then they came back, but they dont seem to bother him, guppy pretty much clarified it was a fluke worm or something like that but I am treating it with medicated food. Doing great though, eats on his own swims around and swims for food now, eats the smaller fish lol... chases them still cant use the back part of his tail or w/e but just swims anyways. =)

I am using SERA Baktopur Direct tabs and Baktopur. This together with an antibiotic I get from my supplier. My guy is much better but he still doesn't use his tail much. I will phone my supplier and ask his opinion. :naughty: :clap  :woot: :headbang2
