Update on my baby aimara from guyana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Awesome Aimara. I picked up a similar sized one the other night. I got mine from Oliver as well. I think I'm going to switch mine over to a lighter substrate now that I see yours. Mines on black estes sand and the fish is almost black.

How do you find it's aggression? Mine was bad the first first two days but started to settle down.

Good Luck,
JMorash

I had problems with him jumping and broke his jaw but he recovered well after a couple of days , last night he start jump again and again broke his jaw a little and I lower the wather level with like7-8 inches.... Do you had jumping problem?

No jumping problem at all. Mines pretty laid back. I can put my hands in the tank and he completely avoids me. I'm not betting any money that this will last though. I actually got one hoping it would be one of those 'typically' mean aimara that attacks the tank everytime I walk in the room. Yet, from what I've seen so far he's less aggressive than my old "xingu black".

I'm thinking my guy is less aggressive towards me because of the way I have him set up. His tank is poorly lit, black background, black substrate and looks of "root like" pieces of wood for him to hide under, so he probably feels hidden, even though I can clearly see him through the "roots". With that being said, he is out in the open most of the time and is a fairly confident fish. This isn't science of course, just an assumption that if he feels comfortable and not threatened he's less likely to attack.
