I have not posted any pics on my african peacock (cichlids) hybrid project since Oct. Here are some updated info and pics. I originally had about a hundred of these fry, i fed some to other fish and kept just 4 specimens to grow out. I am pretty happy with how they are turning out. I crossed a Male auloncara stuartgranti (cobue i think) with a female OB peacock (red variety). I was hoping to get offspring that would have the OB pattern with the wonderful Purple/blue of the stuartgranti. After many months of growing i was starting to get disappointed when i saw no blue/purple coloration. Then today i took a closer look and 2 of the 4 are starting to get a nice purple blue hue to all the light areas, when viewed from an angle the fish has the blue scales that go from top fin all the way down, so as it colors up it should get more and more stunning. These fish seem to be normal acting, not aggressive and not wimpy, seem fatter in the body than some other peacocks i have kept, i believe that is due to the OB peacock body shape but not sure. Here are some pics i took tonight of them :
Here is another peacock that was spawned at nearly the same time. You can see the difference in body shape :
