I am pleased to report that we have found homes for 4 of the 9 "gentle giants" so far. That puts us down to 5!!! We may have 2 more re-homed next week if all goes well. That would put us down to 3!!! :clap I am so glad I put the effort into trying...good thing I didn't take the advice I got from some of the people on here to just have them all euthanised!!! They went to very serious fish keepers and will have very good homes in large tanks (I'm not saying they won't out grow the tanks eventually but, as they are all 2 yrs old and only 6 to 7 inches we know they are obviously severly stunted and most likely will NOT reach average size). They should have several good years of happiness. To those of you that encouraged me for my efforts I say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
And to the rest of you that were to busy judging me I say :p:raspberry

I'm glad to hear that there finding homes. I hope the rest will be able to also. Kepp up the good work and let us know when they have all been re-homed.

I get pissed everytime I walk into petsmart and see red bellies for sale! It wouldn't be so bad if the employees knew what they were doing or cared at all. So many stories of people not realizing what they were getting into. Great job on the rehoming!:)

I'm very curious as to how they only got to 6-7" in 2yrs. When I had my Pacu experience, I had bought 2 for a 40 gallon tall, 6 months later one was 14" and the other was 12", they busted my tank. I'm no judging you by any means since I had made the same mistake when I first started out years ago, but 6-7" in 2 years doesn't even seem possible to me.

It feels good to know your fish went to a good home. I hate when I have to let fish go and always try my best to place them myself and not bring them to the pet store. Good job.

I totally understand your confussion... I'm not sure I just know for a fact that they are 2 yrs old (my older son is the one who bought them from Walmart before they stopped selling fish). Stupid people shouldn't sell fish!!!!! Anyways I am sitting here looking at them right now and they are only 6 to 7 inches, my JD is longer than they are and he's about 71/2 to 8 inches... I am shocked myself because our Pacu (R.I.P. BOB) was 10" at that age and "tiny" by Pacu standards. As I have stated before I didn't buy these guys I'm just caring for them until I find them homes.

Thank you. I hate having to let these "gentle Giants" (that's what I call them...lol) go... They are great fish and have so much personality but I would never keep them. They need to be able to thrive and unfortunately I can't provide that for them...

Remember this picture of a wild caught Pacu? I can't believe anyone would sell, buy, or rehome one of these monsters. Now if you own a restaurant......
