So I figured I'd update anyone interested in learning from my battle in attempting to house a jar with an oscar. I also have a hybrid tsnxrtc tsn id shark and some gouramis in the same tank(for now at least hope to upgrade from the 90 to an indoor pond with thin the next year or so.) So recently I had to get rid of to very nice looking red belly pacu because they were nipping at my jar and my jar snapped at him... So all was well for a while until i spent a week starving my Jar in order to get it onto sticks(tera large cichlid sticks with color enhancers). S/he was only eating meal worms crickets and earth worms. I could get her to mouth the stick but would always spit it. During this week or so my oscar put on just enough bulk to think he owns the tank again (he had a small outing with the jar pre pacu departure era, where he kept nipping the jar and the jar finnally snapped and took a chunk of flesh off the oscar and the O cought ick. I then put him in a hospital tank and reintroduced him a few days after full visual recovery, and when he returned he didn't feel like he owned the tank anymore... until now.) So i recently noticed my jar missing a single scale and spent some time watching the tank. sure enough the O is chasing the Jar again,,, grrrr
So I went out and bought a new plant, drift wood a red male beta 4 gold gouramis and one sm giant gourami (that makes 4 gold 2 blue 1giant and 1 moonlight, So far I have only lost 1 moonlight the day it was released to the bowls of hybrid, must have swam infront of her mouth) The oscar had quite chasing the gouramis that I had originally bought as dither fish, but since he couldn't catch any he seemed tro give up on them. Since I have added them to the tank he can't seem to stop chasing them... Hopefully this is just what i need to keep his attention away from my jar while I try to slip him/her some extra meal worms to help get her growing again!!! Check out the new set up and let me know what you think
